What is Recharge?

Recharge is how water infiltrates the earth to replenish underground aquifers. It happens naturally through soil and plants, and can also be accelerated using artificial systems like recharge pits, trenches, and bunds. STWS promotes both traditional and scientific recharge models adapted to each region’s ecology.

Bamboo Restoration Campaign

We prioritize bamboo for its rapid growth, high moisture retention, and affordability.

Current Scope:

  • 100,000+ bamboo saplings raised

  • Planted across multiple catchment zones

  • Quantified outcomes in:

    • Soil erosion reduction

    • Groundwater level restoration

    • River flow stabilization

    • Community employment generation

Research Focus: Expanded

  • Forest use and human impact on upstream areas
  • Subsurface water dynamics and vegetation mapping
  • Measuring water stress across multiple tributaries
  • Soil erosion patterns and interventions
  • Socioeconomic linkages to environmental degradation
  • Preservation of ethnic conservation methods and wisdom
